My biscuit arrived cold, although they apologized and were glad to re-heat it when asked. ( I find that many restaurants do not have good sweet tea, but theirs is very good.) The servers kept our sweet teas filled. As soon as I took a sip, I commented that the sweet tea was good. We both liked the chicken, although we wished the serving size was larger on the chicken as well as the sides. I chose a biscuit for my bread and pickled beets and broccoli salad for my sides. He chose whole wheat toast for his bread, and fresh fruit, and deviled eggs (2 halves) for his sides. Hubby and I both ordered the Grilled Chicken Cordon Bleu and sweet tea. A huge blackboard lists highlights of the menu, vegetables being served that day, and daily specials. I also liked that each table is already set with a generous selection of condiments : salt, pepper, hot sauce, ketchup, coffee creamer, real butter and a wide selection of jellies. As soon as a booth or table is empty, someone is ready to sit down and fill it. As two men were getting ready to sit in the booth behind us, the server already knew what they wanted to drink - based on prior visits, I guess. Based on the friendly conversations between diners and diners and staff, everyone pretty much knew everyone else. Apparently, this is the restaurant equivalent of the TV show Cheers - where everybody knows your name. This was our first visit to this popular local restaurant. There's a lot to like about the Wallburg Diner. This is a popular spot, so finding parking can be a bit of a challenge. Based on good reviews on TripAdvisor, we had lunch at the Wallburg Diner today. This portrait was taken on a sunny day. Photo by: 'Kevin Landwer-Johan With the right light and camera settings, this style of portrait can be achieved with little or no post processing. Knowing this and looking for situations where the lighting and the location is right will make for great portraits with a black background. In high contrast lighting, our cameras will record less detail than we see. In the future, our cameras may well be able to capture more tone range in a single frame than our eyes can see. As technology advances, this is changing. Our eyes can see a broader tonal range than our cameras can record. The way we see light with our eyes and the way our cameras record it is different. Soft, subdued light creates low contrast photographs. Strong, hard light creates high contrast. The amount of light and its quality govern the way that your photographs look. Nearly extinct, possibly only one surviving specimen in Botswana. chobiensis) – A local subspecies restricted to the Chobe Valley in southeastern Angola, Namibia ( Zambezi Region) and northern Botswana. Relict populations in northern Somalia vanished during the early 20th century. Formerly central Sudan, Eritrea, northern and southeastern Ethiopia, Djibouti and northern and southeastern Somalia. It became extinct due to excessive hunting and habitat destruction around 1850. Once abundant from the Cape of Good Hope to Transvaal, South Africa and probably into the south of Namibia, this was the largest subspecies. Southern black rhinoceros or Cape black rhinoceros ( D. The most accepted scheme considers seven or eight subspecies, of which three became extinct in historical times and one is on the brink of extinction: The intraspecific variation in the black rhinoceros has been discussed by various authors and is not finally settled. In 1911 this was formally fixed and the Cape of Good Hope officially declared the type locality of the species. However he also referred to reports from early travellers about a double-horned rhino in Africa and when it emerged that there is only one, single-horned species of rhino in India, Rhinoceros bicornis was used to refer to the African rhinos (the white rhino only became recognised in 1812). Such a skull is known to have existed and Linnaeus even mentioned India as origin of this species. There is some confusion about what exactly Linnaeus conceived under this name as this species was probably based upon the skull of a single-horned Indian rhinoceros ( Rhinoceros unicornis), with a second horn artificially added by the collector. The name means "double-horned rhinoceros". The species was first named Rhinoceros bicornis by Carl Linnaeus in the 10th edition of his Systema naturae in 1758. The IUCN estimates that there are 3,142 mature individuals remaining in the wild. Three subspecies have been declared extinct, including the western black rhinoceros, which was declared extinct by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2011. The species overall is classified as critically endangered (even though the south-western black rhinoceros is classified as near threatened) and is threatened by multiple factors including poaching and habitat reduction. These species are now sometimes referred to as the square-lipped (for white) or hook-lipped (for black) rhinoceros. The word "white" in the name "white rhinoceros" is often said to be a misinterpretation of the Afrikaans word wyd ( Dutch wijd) meaning wide, referring to its square upper lip, as opposed to the pointed or hooked lip of the black rhinoceros. The other African rhinoceros is the white rhinoceros ( Ceratotherium simum). It is the only extant species of the genus Diceros. Although the species is referred to as black, its colours vary from brown to grey. The black rhinoceros, black rhino or hook-lipped rhinoceros ( Diceros bicornis) is a species of rhinoceros, native to eastern and southern Africa including Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Eswatini, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. What I've experienced here or in its sequence is something that I haven't experienced in other games. It's something that I felt that could've been easily fixed, with a few more notes or cutscenes, but instead it becomes a puzzle of its own in the end.Īs previously said, Silent Hill 1 is unique. It starts off great, but fails to explain essential plot points and fill the blanks. The story's also something that felt a bit underdeveloped in my opinion. In fact, this is probably the main reason why I wasn't scared at all during these moments. At least until you enter a place like the hospital or school. Sure, it is great, but it BEGS a well done remake.Ĭombat is downright painful, movement is stiff to a fault, puzzles can be very overcomplicated and enemy placement is just bad! Traversing SH's foggy envrionments should've been spooky, but the amount of enemies chasing and hurting Harry at ALL TIMES breaks the vibe. With all that said, I have to be honest: the game does not hold up. The mystery set from the start kept me interested until the end and although I feel like it could've been handled a lot better, I was craving to know more even after the credits rolled. Even if the game had no combat, SH's tone and oppressive music itself would've been enough to make you sweat. It's an astonishing work of sound design and ambience. Like I've said before, atmosphere and sound were key. The town is well-modeled and feels like an actual ghost town, environments are not pre-rendered and that might be the reason why it's all so strange and foreboding, characters are mysterious and creepy, enemy design is good, it's short with an INTENSE pacing, replayability is highly encouraged and the mood is just perfect. Few games actually got me this tense and unsure of my actions quite like this one. The main reason for this is atmosphere and sound. Silent Hill 1 made me feel dreadful - but In a good way. It may be outdated and rough around the edges but it's undeniably original, effective and essential. It's definitely not its sequel, but it's definitely one of the most remarkable games of its time. I have to start saying that Silent Hill is probably one of the most unique game I've ever played. I did it, finally.Īlthough I'm happy to say that this incredible franchise's first game is indeed amazing, I'm also a bit sad to see how outdated it gets as the years go by. It took me THIS long to actually finish Silent Hill 1. If you're passionate about retro gaming or just want to learn more about it, then you should check out Retro Gamer. When boosted by Enchant-mint, Caulipower's hypnosis will heal zombies to an additional 125% of their original HP (max HP if the zombie is a mechanical zombie). Gargantuars can only be knocked back if not shrunken.Ĭaulipower now tosses more random zombies. If there is no available targets on-screen, nothing will happen and the Plant Food is kept. When fed by Plant Food, Caulipower targets 5 random zombies on-screen and they will be thrown away, in a similar manner of the Power Toss. He can also be planted in the air columns in Sky City. In addition, hypnotized zombies will be at equal levels as they are before hypnosis, regardless of Caulipower's current level. In the Chinese version, he can deal 200 damage to destructible obstacles and Gargantuars (he cannot hypnotize them in this version). If mechanical zombies are hypnotized, their health will be restored to 50% of their max health. The hypnotized zombie absorbs 10% less damage from other zombies and its HP will be restored an additional 1% of its max HP. He can also be planted on water tiles in Big Wave Beach without the aid of a Lily Pad, just like Rotobaga and Ghost Pepper. Since he uses a beam to hypnotize zombies, non-eating zombies like Gargantuars can be hypnotized, unlike with Hypno-shroom. He hypnotizes a zombie approximately every 12 seconds (10 seconds for the first time). He hypnotizes zombies like Hypno-shroom, and targets zombies in the same manner as Electric Blueberry, mostly random, but is more likely to target weaker zombies. Zombies 2, tied to the 2017 Luck O' the Zombie event. He's just thought of a really great ending for his novel, but he's afraid his cousin won't understand it.Ĭaulipower is a premium plant in Plants vs. Note that the Chinese upgraded effects for this plant can be seen as contradictory, since it shoots fire, ice, and napalm peas at the same time, making the ice peas useless, as the fire and napalm peas can easily cancel out the slowing effects of the ice peas.Caulipower's eyes spin with distress. In conclusion, while Repeater may have retained his profile throughout the games, he has failed to catch up with the changing environment and consequently dropped in usability.Ī Repeater's Plant Food upgrade with the help of Torchwood's fire can kill a normal Gargantuar (90*2=180), and, if he is helped with Torchwood's napalm fire, he can even kill a Jurassic Gargantuar. This is only worsened by the increased number of enemies that can either block or deflect straight shooting projectiles, and the fact that Repeater faces competition from Fire Peashooter, which deals identical damage at a slightly cheaper price tag, can thaw nearby plants in Frostbite Caves, but does not benefit from Torchwood, and cannot deal damage to Imp Dragon Zombies. While Repeater has not changed much during the transition to the new game, the loss of fire peas' splash damage capability has put a significant dent in Repeater's usefulness, as well as other peashooting plants'. Repeater gains another 50% more attack power and health (250% of initial).Īny peas fired by Repeater with his Plant Food ability has a chance to be a fire, napalm or frozen pea. Repeater gains another 50% more attack power and health (200% of initial). In addition, it is now capable of shooting plasma peas. Repeater's probability to shoot a frozen pea or a fire pea increases. Repeater gains 50% more attack power and health (150% of initial). Repeater gains a 12.5% chance to shoot a frozen pea, and a 16.667% chance to shoot a fire pea. When boosted by Appease-mint, Repeater's peas deal an additional 120 damage. Repeater will then shoot 90 (60 in the Chinese version) peas, and then after turning red for a second, it fires a giant pea that deals 600 (400 in the Chinese version) damage. When fed Plant Food, Repeater will temporarily turn into a Gatling Pea, like Peashooter, but with a blue spiked corporal helmet. Naturally, he has very good connections with people, as the thing everyone is willing to do the most is lending him money. If you treat Repeater well, he will treat you with double the respect if you anger him, he will respond with double the pain. |
